Maverick Smith returns with a festive twist after the success of their debut album “With Friends and Imperfections” The 3 song EP “Christmas “, released on 15th November, puts a daring spin on holiday favorites and unique songs like “Coal for Christmas.” The EP combines indie rock, punk energy, and sumptuous melodies to make a perfect collection of songs

The first song is titled “Coal for Christmas”. The intro of a lovely drum beat before the guitar sounds and the vocal performance. The song is festive about about the joys of Christmas(“It’s Merry Christmas Again”). The song mentions the things we do on Christmas like decorating and exchanging gifts. The vocal performance is beautiful and in the middle of the song, the song pivots with lyrics about a person who doesn’t like the holidays, a Grinch if you would. This song lets listeners know the rest of the songs ahead of them

Next up is “Kid at Christmas”. The intro is an energetic and upbeat mix of instruments. The song describes how Christmas is different when you’re a kid at Christmas (“wake up mom and dad”). Like the character in the song, I too remember how Christmas was when I was younger, the staying up to wait for Santa, the waking up of parents so we can unwrap our presents together under the Christmas tree. The song reminds listeners not to lose their Christmas spirit no matter how old they are. The vocal performance is very passionate and powerful and matches the energy of the song. This song is foot-tapping and will be so exciting to hear life

The last song on the EP is “Jingle Bells”. The song has an electrifying intro. Now this song is a song that every single person knows. This song managed to break every barrier we humans have which is revolutionary. Most artists have covered this song but I can say with all honesty that this song was performed in a way that I have never heard. A rock jingle bells song is a version of this song is something that everyone will love. Who honestly, won’t love to dance to this because I can’t think of anyone in this entire world? The very best part is the electric guitar solo. I got on my feet and danced my heart out and I know you will too. This song brings the EP to a spectacular end
