TRAVEL TO THE 12TH CENTURY WITH GRACE MCLEAN’S SONG AND VIDEO “MY LOVELY ENEMY”

No Comments Review

Greetings everyone!! Please help me to give a warm welcome to NY artist Grace Mclean on our blog. Grace released a song called “My Lovely Enemy” and its corresponding video on 8th October. Let’s talk more about the song and the video

You can’t talk about this video without talking about the song. The song starts with these lovely stringed instruments. The video on the other hand shows a lovely maiden who is being pursued and then cuts to her tripping over

The video then cuts to the maiden who is being chased in a window. She quickly closed the curtain. We then see her standing over a blood-stained sink. Finally, we are able to see the person who was chasing her. By the end of the video, the maiden kills her guest and as she drags the body into the bathtub we realize that she is drowning herself. Mau Quiros, a renowned filmmaker, created the beautiful.

According to McLean, the poem of Saint Ursula’s martyrdom written by the mystic Hildegard von Bingen in the 12th century served as the inspiration for this song. In it, Hildegard thanks Ursula’s murderers for fulfilling her greatest wish—to be one with the Divine—which she could only obtain in death—through their devastating violence. It taught Grace to view the martyrdom scene as a marriage ceremony, and she realized that by changing the frame from one of grief to one of celebration, she could visualize the happiness that comes from embracing sacrifice or loss. (” And now with my last breath I bind myself to you”)

The song was Produced and recorded by musical polymath Justin Goldner, and mixed by Jack DeBoe who had worked with Jean Baptiste, Tyler the Creator, and Yebba) and mastered by Blake Morgan (Lenny Kravitz, Lesley Gore, and many others. The “My Lovely Enemy’s” video was directed by the wonderful Mau Quiro

Grace had a specific vision after writing and recording this song and Mau helped her bring it to life. I did not only enjoy the meaning of the song. The video was just what I imagined and I know I will have it on repeat. Grace is a music visionary so the world better watch out for her!!!
