Greetings dearest gentle readers and music fans. Let’s welcome Clyde to our blog. Clyde has made an EP which was released on 19th September. This 4 song EP is titled “The London Sessions”, however, Clyde is not alone on this EP he has partnered with Terry Miller, who draws inspiration from American indie music icons such as Posies, REM, Pavement, and The Melvins. Then there is Clyde himself who is Like the terrain of Kentucky, stark, barren, gorgeous, raw, and familiar. Let’s talk more about this EP
The first song on the EP is called “The Traveler”. The song starts with lonely and demure guitar sounds. The song is about a character who is fond of going to new places(“help me to know how far I am”). He also somehow feels that he will live forever because of the thrills from his adventures (“I’ll get around when the east is gone”). The song first has the guitar sound as the lead instrument but when the drum beat is added to it, it sounds even better. I can’t talk about this song without mentioning how glorious the drum/ guitar mix solo was. This song was the perfect track to welcome listeners to the EP
The next song is “The Writer”. This song’s intro is very energetic and catchy. The song is about a person who is taking note of everything around him by documenting it through writing. The song has this melody where it pauses for just an instant before picking up again and that was so, so thrilling. This song continued to amaze me when towards the end, it changed its course entirely it sounded so operatic and so gorgeous, and before you know it it goes back to being exciting and fast-paced. This song will be so mesmerizing when you hear it live!
“The Pilot” is the song that comes next. This track opens with a throbbing synth-like sound and then the electric guitar sets in. This song has country influences and also has stringed instruments that are breathtakingly beautiful. The harmonies in the song are drop-dead beautiful and the electric guitar solo was mouth gaping and so so stunning
The last song on the EP is called “The Poser”. This track utilizes bold, grand, and beautiful piano sound as its intro. The character in the song is confronting his or her partner telling this person how much he or she likes posers and wants to pose for him or her(“Why don’t I pose for you”). Now the poser could mean a character who is pretending and deceitfully impressing others or it could mean a person who wants to be an object of focus for another person taking a picture of him or her. Nonetheless, this song packed a real punch. It was profound and the instrumentation was ethereal and so very angelic. Clyde did wonders on this song and he did so well by ending this EP in a grandiose way
The EP is a real game-changer. This EP is a mystical compilation of tunes that transport the listener to Kentucky’s rural roads and up to the huge city lights. I was mesmerized by each and every song. I only wished that the EP was longer because I needed more of these amazing tracks even though I listened to it over and over again. Clyde and these professional artists have made this EP legendary and will never go out of style
