No Comments News

Greetings and welcome everyone, one and all. Let’s welcome back to our blog the extremely talented US artist The Screaming Pope who is George Bolton on Keyboards. This artist surprised me with his profound song “Your Star” and his genre-bending album “Overboard”. He is back again with a new album called “The Mountain”. This 13-song album was released on 12th July, let’s talk more about this album

The song’s title track is “Let You Down”. The song begins with this ethereal sound and drum beat so beautifully your attention is suddenly shifted to focus on the song. In the song, the unnamed character is apologizing to his lover for letting her down and hurting her(” Baby I’m sorry that I hurt you, I never meant to let you down”). He has realized that he misses her(absence makes the heart grow fonder”) and is beating himself up for how the relationship ended. The song has a lovely electronica vibe that will captivate you. This song is a perfect opener for the album and you can’t wait to hear more

The next song is called “The Mountain”. This a pop electronica song with a lively and exciting intro. As the song progresses, the beat gets more lively, and then a lovely stringed instrument elevates the song and the whole listening experience. The drum beat doesn’t change throughout the song being a solid foundation for the other sounds to change and evolve without it disrupting the song as a whole making this song a standout

Next is the song “Look at me”. The song has a dark and mystical intro. As the song progresses you hear the repetition of the line “Look at me”. This song feels like a daft punk song and is very unique and has a wonderful sonic experience

“To be adored” is the title of the next song. The intro is a beautiful and upbeat sound. The character in the song has finally been told that she is loved by her partner and describes the very moment when it happened(”stars were tumbling out of the sky when you said I love you for the first time”). The character has put her all in the relationship and lets her partner know that even if they don’t end up together forever she’s okay with it because he has shown her what it feels like to be loved wholesomely (”how it felt to be adored”). This is a beautiful story and sentiment that is conveyed in this delightful song

Next is the song “Sick and Tired”. The song starts with a pulsating rhythm that is very magnetic the song is a conversation between two people who are about to end their relationship. First, we hear from the lady who accused him of lying to her (”after the lies can we say our goodbyes”), then we hear from the man’s side who claims that she was hard to love or made their relationship difficult (”you made love a bitch”). Eventually, they agree that they both are tired of the cycle of toxicity in their relationship even though they are still in love (”I’m so sick and tired of messing around”). Eventually, they decide to stay together and fight the demons that plague their relationship. Musically, the vocal performance of the female and the male are distinctive and their duet is absolutely breathtaking. The song takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions due to the sensitivity of the message embedded in the song

“Together” is the title of the next song. The song’s intro is a long synth-pop sound and is added to a lovely drum beat. The song is a club electronica song where the persona feels so high and is on a cloud so high (”makes me feel so high”). The song is very exciting and you will feel like dancing no matter what you are doing and wherever you are

Next is a song called “Oracle of Delphi”. This song has a unique arrangement of instruments as its opening. Throughout the song, there are different and vibrant sounds thrown your way which would have been overwhelming but it’s done in a way that is so subtle and delightful without dulling the sparkle and charm of the song

Next is the song “Paradise. The song incorporates a lot more piano sounds in the song. The persona in the song asks his lover to go to a place where they can be wild and free, a place they can be alone(”somewhere we can be alone”) and a place where they can be themselves without hiding. The song is relatable because we all dream of a place where we can be our true selves without being afraid and feeling shame and I applaud The screaming pope for sharing this very valid and valuable message in a fun and exciting way

“One Reason” is the next song on the album. The song has a heavenly aura which comes with the opening melodies. The character in the song is trying his very best to overcome harsh realities in his life that he calls mountains(”one reason left to conquer these mountains we climb”). The mouth percussionist in this song is so impeccable and beautiful that you will want to keep it on repeat

Next is the song” Create Beauty”. This song starts with an amazing guitar melody. This song completely embraces the electronica genre completely, changing and recreating itself quite beautifully

Next is the song “Lose Control”. These pulsating sounds welcome you to this song and the drum beat is added to it, this song goes really hard and will get you let loose and the song describes a feeling that is letting him lose control of him or herself. (”I lose control”)The song is foot-tapping and creates an amazing soundscape

Next is the song called “Rock one word”. The intro of the song is so lovely that you’re instantly excited. This song is avant-garde band uniquely fantastic and There is a guitar solo mid-song that is like a fresh breath of air. The song leaves this vacuum in your mind you would feel uncomfortable until you listen to it over and over again

The album ends with “Gentle Breeze”. The song’s intro sounds like wind chimes in the wind which is so interesting given the title of the song, as the song goes on you hear another stringed instrument before a beat is added to it. The song talks about a character who likens her love for her partner to a gentle breeze The mouth percussions in the song are so divine that you’d feel like you’re in another plane of existence where only divine voices exist. This song closes out the album beautifully

What an experience, what an album! The Screaming Pope has done it again, when I thought I had figured out his sound he switched and evolved as an artist as time went on. His ability to make music with different sounds that are normally not put together is unmatched. I am now a stan who is going to tell you to listen to his music because you will not be disappointed and I can’t wait for his next project
