Greetings dearest readers and music fans let’s give a warm welcome to the band The Mustard. The Mustard, hailing from Bracknell, England, is a dynamic band comprised of Charles Harry Allen on vocals, Ollie Foord on guitars and backing vocals, Lukas Kelly on keys/synths, Mike Jackson on bass, and Carl Sampson on drums and percussion. Their formation began with Ollie Foord and Lukas Kelly, later joined by Charles after the departure of the original singer, Jez Dubery. On the 29th of September 2023, The Mustard will release their original single titled “When the world is your home”. Let’s talk more about the song
The song opens with these dramatic and intense synth-like sounds before the guitar jumps in. At this point, listeners should prepare themselves for an unforgettable ride
Motivated by contemporary events like the situation in Ukraine, this song explores issues of mental health, solidarity, and global consciousness. (“We are living in bad times”). The persona in the song also talks about how powerless about these trying times especially the Ukrainian war(“it’s driving me crazy”). The song’s advisory nature must wake people up to do what’s right and fight for the world
Drawing inspiration from iconic bands like Simple Minds, Tears for Fears, U2, and Coldplay, The Mustard infuses their music with a blend of 80s nostalgia and modern energy, the guitar solo was also very thrilling. The single, produced by Steve Smiley Barnard, who is well-known for his work with Simple Minds, features the band’s distinctive sound, which is defined by strong synth arrangements and vivacious drumming by Carl Sampson.
The band strived to make a poignant song bearing the mark of the band’s distinctive style. This song was an eye-opener while talking about the intensity of issues that plague the world right now, with the hope that we will fight for our home. The band is very talented and they will go very far in the music industry
