Greetings dearest gentle readers and music lovers let’s give a warm welcome to The Leif. On October 22, Norwegian band The Leif released their fourth album “Det er en egen lomme “(There is such a thing as your very own pocket). The 10-song album will strike a chord with listeners let’s talk more about this Record
“Einn til sjö” is the first track on the album. The song features heavy cymbal sounds and electric guitar. The fusion of the sounds is so tasteful and classy. The song spoke volumes to me even though it’s an instrumental song. This gorgeous beauty opens up the album
Next up is the song “A’ho”. The song starts with a very nice stringed melody. When a drum beat is added to it, it moves into a different dimension. You might think that you’re hearing this sound over and over again but there a layers to every single line in the song that will delight you
Next up is the song “Julie”. This track has a very glacial intro. There is another sound in there which sounds a little like rain sticks. The guitar sounds are so soft and very delightful and smooth, later in the song, electronic piano sounds are added to it. Listeners will really get a kick out of this song
“Hakklomana” is the song that is up next. The melody of this song has a certain brightness to it. The sound really fills your ear out with every aspect of it. The vibrant nature of the electric guitar may make you think the sound of the bass guitar will sound lost when it isn’t. The song is made in a way such you can enjoy the impact of every instrument played on the track
Up next is “ Det er en egen lomme”. This song starts out very slow, glacial, and very somber. The electric guitar tries to brighten it up but the song is an emotive track with captures your attention the minute it begins. By the end of the song, you would have fallen in love with this delicious beauty
“Hyphen”. This is yet another slow-starting song with rustling sounds in the background. This sound has a more acoustic side to it before the electric guitar sets in. What was once acoustic turns into a country blues type of sound. The structure of the song makes it sonically pleasing
Next up is the song “Killian”. This track has a certain darkness to it that is very alluring. The sound is richer fuller and glacial. The sound drags out, giving the listeners a chance to really create a journey and storyline that listeners can follow. Yes, you read that right! The song speaks to listeners without so much as uttering a word, a quality that this song possesses
“Oishii and the weasel”. This song has a vibe element to it because of how low the guitar notes sound. This song breathes a breath of fresh air into the album to keep listeners captivated from beginning to end
Next up is “laser clink”. This song sounds so angelic and heavenly. The way the cymbol sound and instrumentation sound are light and cheery and this is what heaven sounds like I presume. This song was so breathtakingly awesome, stunning, and beautiful
The last song on the album is titled “Otwierana”. The song features piano and guitar sounds that draw you in immediately. This song was so regal and majestic. The cymbal sounds also class up the song. This song is literal perfection and kudos to the band for this glorious song. Our sonic journey ends with this beautiful track
What an amazing album, the band really took their time to carve out a fantastic collection of songs. Each song was distinct and each song had gravitas. The album is proof that music even without lyrics, is equally if not more enjoyable despite the genre you favor. The band are very talented artists and I can’t wait to hear more music from them
