Greetings to all my cherished readers and music lovers lets welcome US artist Collin Thomas One-of-a-kind project, “The Gauze Eyed Gaze Of Bracketed Air,” his new album is about taking care of a person suffering from dementia. Released on 1st November and divided into 16 parts, Thomas is hoping it will be unlike anything you’ve ever heard or seen, and it will highlight just how horrible this illness really is. Let’s dive into it

“Early Onset” is the first song on the album. The song begins with huge and bold piano notes. The notes are played one after the other so you can hear every note very clearly. There are brief intermission between the notes so you are able to appreciate every note, and when I say appreciate I mean deeply and more profoundly. The song takes time for you to settle into much like the onset of dementia. It starts slowly and takes a while for the patient and his or his family to realize what is happening.

“The Walk” is the next song. The song opens with slow and magnificent piano notes. The sound is rich and dark. The sound is well-balanced. There are moments in the song which are mellow and beautiful. This song left me breathless because of its captivating nature.

Next is the song “Is He Gone”. This song is quite emotive and sad. During the song, there are some sounds that sound like ping-pong players at their best before the piano sound takes the lead again. And at this point, you wonder if the person you love is gone. The playing was elegant and of royal caliber and quite unbeatable if I may say

“Escaping with an aspiration”. The song opens with bigger piano notes. The song is authoritative and the instrumentation is of the very best. The song is effortless and sensitive, conveying the message of the song through its expressive notes and creating an undeniable operatic performance

“The doll purchase”. This song opens with these authoritative and flawless piano notes. These harmonic sounds are simply amazing. There are quiet breaks in the song that make sense you feel reflective, a skill that Thomas has mastered

Next is the song “The wrong Banquet”. This song has a very perfect adagio unlike any that I’ve come across ever. There is a steady and precise moderato. There is this purring-like sound in the background as well that is very avant-garde. This song is the embodiment of pure and total sophistication. The song will refine your music taste buds and delight you

Next is “New ways of setting the table”. Right from the start, you already know that this song is unique in every sense of the word. The harmonies are sparse and give you a moment to digest what you are hearing. The mezzo-pianic nuances in the song are unbeatable and it has this dark side to it as well, a never-ending sound that sounds like a chime. Nevertheless, you will be captivated. That’s the power that this song holds

“Softshell Venom” is the title of the next song. This song starts out bold but really inside those bold notes are these incredibly lush notes that are hard to miss. The notes in the song are glacial in form, releasing the ding note by note so listeners can get the message embedded in the song

“Back up reserves, make the call is the title of the next song. This classical piano piece is gentle yet mournful with gradual crescendos and an ambient feel

Next is “media appreciated, in due time”. This song has a soft and airy intro. The song itself has nimble and light harmonies. This song is tinkly and you feel as though you have been embraced by a heavenly being

“Minced, frozen, scorched” is the song up next. This song is pleasant and has a sound that envelopes instantly. This is a song you can use a blankie to comfort you when you’re upsèt or feeling down. The song will make you feel like everything is going to be okay, a feeling that you would like to hold to whoever you feel the weight of the world on your back

“Sign on the line” is up next. This song also has a tempo that you can resonate with no matter the genre of music you favor. Since the main theme of the album is watching a person you love dearly struggle with something that you cannot help with, this song has dark sounds and harmonies that you can resonate with if you are facing the same situation

“The Lies We Told” is the song that follows. The song begins with this buoyant piano intro. With its choral, classical, and comforting charms, this song will captivate you from start to finish

“Fabrications: her’s, its, our’s”. Is the next song. Right from the start this song is a fusion of piano, cymbals, and medieval sounds. This is a new and unique sound that breathes new and renewed life into the album, preparing you for the end of the musical journey

Next is the song “Just Lunch”. This is another unique song with piano sounds and a sound that sounds like someone is trying to open a rusty door handle or locked door. I think this is a metaphor that the artist uses to say how much he tried to help his loved one with his illness to remember and it felt like opening a locked door or knocking on a locked door. Later on, the piano sounds come back and take the forefront again. This is a very thrilling song and will thrill listeners thoroughly

The final song on the album is “Aphasia and Metacognition”. Now I know that aphasia is when a person loses his ability to speak due to a brain injury or illness. It seems like this is the last stage for people who are plagued with dementia. Thomas uses this somber song to mark the final phase of the illness and also the end of this album

Wow! What a journey and what an album. In every single song you could feel the emotions oozing out of it was so very sad. I became so emotionally invested in this album that it was hard for me to come to the end of it. I have experienced a very deep type of emotion I never knew I was capable of. Bravo to Collin Thomas and I wish he could see the well-deserved standing ovation I am giving to him. He is very talented and I urge you to listen to this album because you will never regret that you did
