Greetings dearest gentle readers and music fans. Let’s welcome Larry Karpenko. Larry Karpenko’s song “Fare thee Well”, really resonated with me because of how emotive the song was. Larry comes yet again to our blog, bearing another gift of a song called “The River”. Let’s talk more about the song
The song opens with this orchestral vibe that is just so serene and so calming that you just yearn for more and more. The Shenandoah River, which is tucked away in the valley of the verdant Massanutten Mountains in Virginia, serves as the picturesque setting for Larry’s song “The River.” A perfect location for relaxation, tranquility, and introspection, the river meanders past farmland, wild valley grasses, and flower-filled fields. The character in the song describes in detail how important this place is to him, and how he grounds himself in that place and gets poised to move on with life(“I find security and peace”).
To highlight the poignant point where one could picture angels singing in heaven, a choir is added close to the song’s climax. With a pleasant transition into the well-known hymn “Shall We Gather at the River,” where the chorus resounds with brass and orchestral percussion to reinforce the joy, the strange abruptly becomes familiar. To emphasize a victorious, heavenly reunion, handbells are used to accompany the conclusion, which sounds like bell towers ringing with delight. In a flawless conclusion to the story, Larry captivates the audience with the lyrics “the river that flows by the throne of God” as a harp returns the arrangement to a tranquil river vista.
What a heavenly song!!!. I wished with every fiber of my being to visit this place. A place where I could truly become one with nature and let nature truly cleanse me. The arrangement of the song did a fantastic job of giving listeners an immersive experience to also go this place through the song. I can’t say that I’m surprised because Larry is a talented pro who makes music with meaning. Well done to you, Larry!!. I can’t wait to hear more of your songs
