Rising London-based Portuguese artist Zed, The Dreamer returns today with breathtaking new track ‘I died too,’ inspired by the importance of one’s past and the people with whom one grew up. The song is a touching and absorbing homage to the sense of ‘longing,’ or the Portuguese idea of ‘Saudade.’ It has a stripped-back yet fascinating blend of folk, indie, and soul.
Saudade is intricately entwined with the artist’s perception of the world and his emotions, and it reflects the incalculable feeling of missing something or someone.
Portuguese singer-songwriter Zé Pedro Viveiros’ solo project is Zed, The Dreamer. With influences like as Bon Iver, Matt Corby, and Ben Howard, Zed, The Dreamer is always experimenting and discovering new things. The sound is a beautiful mix of indie, folk, and soul that is subtle but intimate. In September of last year, Zed, The Dreamer released his first EP, ‘The Life and Death of Mackenzie Kane,’ which received over 20,000 plays across all streaming platforms. The EP was played on Amazing Radio UK, received press coverage in various music blogs, and The Vinyl District Magazine named it Artist of the Week.
‘I died too,’ by Zed, The Dreamer, is out now. It’s a blend of Folk and Soul that explores the inexplicable emotion of desire for something or someone. I hope you find it enjoyable.
