Greetings dearest gentle readers and music lovers let’s welcome Canadian artist Owen Young Now retired, he has returned to the Haldimand County of his roots where he lives on the Grand River near the shores of Lake Erie. On 5th December, he released The EP “Town Line” an eight-song second part of his four-part album of original songs called “Muddy River”. Let’s talk more about this EP
“In Everything I Do” is the opening track of the EP. The intro of the song has a country vibe from the start. This song is a beautiful song about love. The character in the song is telling his partner that in everything he tells her he loves her. This character is fully committed and tries to prove his love with this song (“In all, I’m telling you I do love you”). The song is heartwarming and tells a picture-perfect relationship and a loving and healthy kind of love. The vocals and instrumentation on this track are as endearing as the theme of the song
Next up is the song “I can’t believe”. The song opens up with a soft piano and drum beat. The song is about a character who thinks he doesn’t he’s worthy of the woman he’s with. (“ cause she brings all this love to me and I can’t believe I get to be her man”)The theme of the song is like the popular Ariana grande’s song where says “I’ll love to see me from your point of view(POV). The vocal performance is tender just like the instrumentation. The lyrics of this song take listeners on this romantic trip to witness this love story. There is a harmonica solo that is very beautiful
Next up is “moon on the rise”. The song starts with soft instrumentation. In the song, the character is not feeling good, especially with a storm on its way. At that moment, he recognizes that he wouldn’t be feeling that way if his lover was with him because she always knew what to say and what to do (“If she could be with me now, things should be better somehow”). This is another example of pure love. The vocal harmonization and the guitar solo were extremely good and the song was very beautiful listeners will fall in love with it too
“Walk down the lane” is the next song on the EP. This song had an upbeat intro. This song is about a young love that stayed strong through their youth and even in their thirties and even when they had children and even when they were old and wrinkled, they knew that they could never explain the love they felt especially one that began with a walk down the lane. This song had a rodeo vibe and it was very foot-tapping that you might try line dancing, but it’s okay because I also tried line dancing.
Up next is “We’ll go sailing”. This song has a very dreamy intro. This song features Tia McGriff and Tommy Parham. The song had a profound lesson about how you may live your life till you lose something to gain something. For instance, you may not know that you couldn’t eat a meal with eggs till you needed eggs for a particular dish, in that moment you realize that you couldn’t live without eggs or you couldn’t eat a meal without eggs. What a valuable lesson to learn about life! We thank the artists for teaching us never to take things for granted
Up next is the song “Old Muddy River”. This is a country-infused song. In the song, the character has an old muddy lake he used to go to. He went there to find solace and he went to the river to tell the river that he now had people in his life who cared deeply for him (his dog and his wife). It seems like he says goodbye to this river and reflects on the times he went there
Up next is the song “Straight Rye Whiskey” This song has a beautiful guitar melody right from the start. The song is about a man going through a breakup. He turns to drinking to be able to cope with his grief and sorrow from the breakup. Later, he opens up about how he loved his ex and how she became his lifeline and just cut lifeline without any warning. The song is very emotive and takes listeners on this trip to see this man who is in so much pain. The vocal performance is very nonchalant and sad but listeners will love the song
The last song on the EP is called” Ontario Home”. The song is a country-infused song. This song is about going back home for the holidays. Around this time of year, people pack up and head back home to spend the holiday with their immediate or extended family. This beautiful song ends the EP
Young owes his family and friends a great deal. Special thanks go out to Tommy Parham and Tia McGraff, who served as composers and musicians, for their guidance and musical contributions during the process. We are also grateful to Beaux Young, who recently returned home from studying in Australia with their lovely voice to provide backup vocals and other assistance throughout the EP Jill Zimmermann, a Jukasa engineer, has also patiently assisted me in assembling the collection, for which I am eternally thankful. He knocked this out of the park and o can’t wait to hear more music from him
