Mortal Prophets, a New York City-based musical project directed by artist John Beckmann, offer their debut track, “Stomp the Devil,” from their corresponding debut EP, which will be released on July 8. It is accompanied by a melancholy music video that was shot at Untermyer Park & Gardens.
John Beckmann and his ever-evolving ensemble of genre-defying roustabouts delve deeply into America’s primal scream with Mortal Prophets. Through the experimental spirit of German Electronica, bands like Neu!, Cluster, Harmonia, Brian Eno, David Bowie, and Suicide, Beckmann taps pre-war blues heroes like Lead Belly, Blind Willie Johnson, Charley Patton, and Robert Johnson. The project’s upcoming first EP was created last year and involves collaborations with renowned guitarist Gary Lucas. It was produced by David Sisko.

Filmmaker Michele Civetta observed, “It is nearly a sci-fi spacious area with shadows of the past blending into a post-apocalyptic future.
