MARK VENNIS AND A DIFFERENT PLACE RELEASE “SUNRISE” EP A GENRE DEFYING COLLECTION OF SONGS

No Comments Review

Greetings dearest gentle readers and music fans worldwide, let’s welcome back the English band Mark Vennis and a different place. Mark Vennis & Different Place are: Mark Vennis on Guitar and Vocals Sean Quinn also Guitar and Vocals Dave Sweetenham on Bass and Vocals Brian Gee on Drums. I have reviewed The band’s single called “In these times”, a profound song, which talks about the difficulties in life. On 11th November the band released a five EP song called “Sunrise EP”.Let’s talk more about this EP

The title track is called “Song for Sunrise”. The song opens with a jaw-dropping drum beat before the guitar even sets in. According to the lyrics, The song was written for people feeling blue because of circumstances in their lives with a beat that will make you feel good (“A song for the down-trotted ones”). This is actually true because, as soon as the beat drops you will be all over the song, dancing and forgetting your woes. The vocal performance and the brief electric guitar solo mid-song are very exciting and very lively. What a way to open up an EP

Next up is the song “In These Times…(E.P). Now when the beat drops, you will be speechless about how amazing the electric guitar was. The song describes an unnamed character who is having problems and believes he is headed in the right direction. However, he or she later discovers that he or she has been going in circles and that the reason he or she is in this maze and fog is due to the times that he or she has been in (“I thought I’d be okay, I thought I’d turned a corner”). The song discusses how we sometimes put forth a lot of effort to better our lives, but we are unable to do so because of the circumstances we find ourselves in (“It sure ain’t a crime in these times”). I commend the band for spreading this hopeful message. One would think I listened to the same thing as single sounded but it was even better this second time around

Next up is called “collapsing buildings”. The song has an upbeat intro that will captivate you. The song illustrates a character who is in the midst of chaos (“It’s falling down all around me”). The song might have a metaphorical meaning where the “collapsing buildings” aren’t literally collapsing. Or it may be collapsing literally, either way, it’s about chaos. The way the song is performed really enforces the meaning and message of the song, through the passionate vocals and instrumentation

Up next is the song “This heartless land”. Bright and cheering guitar sounds are what greet you when this song starts playing. The song talks about a land that has turned on its people and made them miserable. The song really points fingers as to what the land does to them but they are shaken(“Turn on each other, that’s what they want us to do”). The song ends on a high note though, stating that the people of the land have finally stood up against their oppressors. Musically, the vocal performance is strong and wild and there is an electric guitar solo that will blow your mind

The last song is called “Solid Ground” The song opens with glacial and dreamy. The song is about a character who seems to be stranded out at sea and offers to help someone from drowning (“I’ll pull you up to solid ground”). The mention of animals seems like a nod to the biblical story of Noah, his family, and the animals who lived in the ark he built with his sons. Nonetheless, it is about lending a helping hand to anyone who needs it. There is a guitar solo in this song that is very breathtaking. The song’s structure will delight you. This song closes the album in such an amazing way

This band has yet again impressed me and I’ve fallen more and more in love with their music, their artistry, and everything about them. This EP is a testament to the band’s growth and their wonderful future in the music industry. They are very talented and I can’t wait to hear more songs from their camp
