“Love Object “ by Trash Pals is a collection of four songs by the duo Conor Rayne (vocals, drums, and bass) and Gabe Schinder (vocals, guitars, and keyboard ). This EP was written by both Conor and Gabe and was released on 17th November. Love Object” is an anthology of songs written during a period of bereavement when hope was limited and escape appeared unattainable. These songs still serve as a tribute to their struggle through suffering and their faith that the sun will rise again, no matter how dark the night becomes. Since then, they’ve adopted healthy coping mechanisms and growth strategies. With this EP, they wish to offer listeners peace, solace, and a space to experience all the challenges of embracing change. Now let me tell you about each song in detail
The EP begins with “Everything you do”. The song is a nice start to the EP. With heavy bass and electric guitar harmonies layered with the vocal performance of the two, you start to see the story they are trying to tell with this song. The song talks about everything the persona’s lover does, the persona talks about how his or her lover’s behavior is sexually attractive. It sets the tone as to what to expect. When listening to the EP.
The next song is titled “ Specter”. Just like oh the song before it, it is rock-infused and begins with a heavy drum intro. The guitar and vocals set in. The song describes a woman who is not afraid to speak her mind. The persona begs her to open up and give herself over to him. The mixture of the musical instruments and the lyrics make this an enjoyable song to listen to
“What I want “ is next up. The song is very high energy and the drums and the electric guitars are the star of this particular song. The song paints the picture of a person in a relationship asking his or her partner to give him or her what he wants and how he needs his or her partner. The vocals range from high to low throughout the song and the oscillating between the musical instruments makes this an out-of-body experience.
The EP ends with “Sunrise”. This song is quite different than the other three, first off it starts slow and it feels different in terms of lyrics. It paints the picture of the person reassuring his lover that things will be alright and that he or she should take it easy. The song is calm and beautiful and I must say it is a beautiful way to end the EP as it ties all the songs together in such a beautiful way.
Overall “Love Object” by Trash Pals is an amazing EP, although it was born out of grief and dark times it carries important messages in each song and each song is a beautiful masterpiece and it will allow you to feel your emotions quite deeply throughout the listening experience. This duo has created something magical and I can’t wait to see what they release next
