Greetings dearest reader and music fans. Let’s welcome the English band Legends of the Seven Golden Vampires. Legends of the Seven Golden Vampires is a production team consisting of Nick Foster and Luke Barratt that captures the essence of the DIY Mashup scene of the early 2000s, combining genres, blowing minds, and moving feet. The sounds that propelled the many musical movements throughout the decades served as inspiration, and they were shaped together with kaleidoscopic abandon to produce original and distinctive songs. On 31st October, the band released an 11-track album called “psychedelic soul and Trash Vol 3”. The album is a bubblegum sci-fi/horror indie pop LP that combines a variety of influences. Although using samples, decks, and instrumentation is not new, Nick and Luke combine these components to make timeless pop tunes with the assistance of a number of their musical buddies, such as James Atkin (EMF) and Eliot Foster (Good Cop). Let’s talk more about it
The first song on the album is called “Cosmic Discotheque”. Groovy drum beats and amazing guitar sounds are what you’re greeted with. The song is about a place where you get down and let go (“Are you ready?, I’m ready”). This song and its instrumentation(the guitar solo)give you a VIP ticket to go to the cosmic discotheque and give you what you expect and more. Whether they planned it or not, the theme of this song seems to call listeners to go with the band to experience the album in all its glory
“Close to you” is the next song on the album. The opening of this song is a unique blend of various sounds which include but are not limited to police sirens and a thick synth pop beat. The character in the song talks about the lengths she would go to, to be able to get close to her lover(“To be the one close to you”). The synth-pop sounds return in a little solo and a flute-like sound also joins but the bright female vocals and the electric guitar solo are the highlights of the song which listeners look forward to
“Something wicked this way comes” is the next song on the album. This song opens with a beautiful bass guitar sound. The lyrics of this song are sort of a tagline of most horror movies but have a jazz feel especially when the saxophone sound hits. The song is scary but it’s never been done this way before and it is a song listeners should look out for
Next up is the song “Autumn Fall”. This song has an upbeat intro that is quite captivating. The song is performed by a lady and it is a very captivating track. Then the song’s genre changes into a little bit of jazz but the drum beat stays the same throughout the song which makes for a wonderful sound
“Summer Haze” is the next song. The song has a bit of an eerie vibe because of the electric piano sounds. The sound oscillates from night to low and has these mouth percussions that fit the mold of the song and complete the song’s melody. There are a lot of instruments played on this track but they blend and do not sound too much or too chaotic
Next up is “Rialto”. The song opens with slow drumming and a lovely guitar sound. According to the son, the character’s trust has been broken. The song has very soft and subdued instrumentation and The vocal performance fits the vibe The song is trying to give off
Up next is “A Long Walk Home”. The song has a very soft and dreamy intro. The drum sounds are consistent but are still subdued. The song is a poetic song where the character in the song feels that he is being watched and just can’t shake that feeling. The track is a beautiful spoken word with a very dramatic and soft drum beat which highlights every word that is spoken, hanging onto it to really deepen its meaning. The song was very thrilling and listeners will love it
Next is the song “Season of the Witch”. The intro is a low-tempo drum sound with guitar sounds filtering in and out of it. The melody of the song stays the same but don’t be fooled into thinking that it makes the song boring. With each performance of the melody, you appreciate its meaning and depth every single time, and towards the end, the song moves toward an operatic type of song that will delight you
The last song on the album is titled “Cosmic Discotheque”. The song with synth-pop sounds that sound like 80’s music and Studio 54 but with a cosmic spin on it. The song will take you on a wild music journey that will be unforgettable as you hear the song morphing from one genre to another. This cosmic club is where the album ends
Together, the two sought to produce something memorable that was both private and breathtaking and they exceeded the goal on every single song. The band’s versatility and dedication to pushing the frontiers of indie pop music are demonstrated with Psychedelic Soul & Trash Vol. 3, which features songs ranging from Spectoresque ballads to high-octane pop smashes. The band has made a legendary album and I can’t wait to sample more of their music
