JAY-Z Appoints New Roc Nation COO

Brett Yorkman of Roc Nation has been promoted.

JAY-Roc Z’s Nation agency has grown in strength and scope as he has progressed in his commercial dealings and as he has risen to billionaire status. Roc Nation began as a music company and has now expanded to include an agency for musicians and sports, as well as management in the entertainment and fashion industries.

Roc Nation needed to select a new Chief Operating Officer on Wednesday due to the company’s continued growth (Jan. 19). Brett Yorkman, who was already co-CEO of Roc Nation Unified and President of Roc Nation’s Business Operations & Strategy, was promoted to COO. Yorkman will continue to serve in those two previous jobs, and he thanks his superiors for the opportunity in a statement: “I am thrilled that JAY-Z, Desiree and the Roc Nation board have given me this opportunity and look forward to growing the company under their vision. Roc Nation is one of today’s most culturally rich, diverse and innovative companies. After the past two years working at Roc Nation, I have seen first hand that with determination and an entrepreneurial spirit, anything is possible.”

News from the agency world: Brett Yormark was promoted to COO of Roc Nation, CEO Desiree Perez (no relation) announced today. Desiree Perez, who was previously the COO of Roc Nation until being appointed to CEO in 2019, was addressed by Yorkman in his statement. The position of COO for the booming company has been vacant since then, but Yorkman has now taken over because Perez decided he was the perfect man for the job: “There are few individuals that understand the essence of Roc Nation. Brett Yormark has proven to be a fearless leader and will be dynamic in the role of COO. His proven track record ensures that Roc Nation will be in a prime position to expand our business and influence in the years to come.”
