Greetings, all our cherished readers and music lovers. Let’s welcome US artist Anoush. Anoush, who is well-known for using poetry to share distinct viewpoints, demonstrates her broad musical taste and classical expertise in her new album “TWO,” skillfully fusing classical components with contemporary soundscapes. The 12-song album explores the existential themes of dualism, spirituality, and the dance between good and evil forces are all explored. The album transports listeners on a fantastical voyage replete with rich musical images and narration reminiscent of fairytales. Lyrically, it will inspire deep thought. Let’s get into the details of the album
The first song on the album is titled “Divide and Conquer”. The song’s intro is a very bright and beautiful piano sound with subtle mouth percussions. The song introduces listeners to a character who is calling out for help from God (“on my knees and I call on you”). The character continues to ask for help to save herself from being hurt by herself (“save me from myself my God”) and continues to plead throughout the song for help and to escape hell. The vocal performance is very beautiful and very captivating, as is the instrumentation and the song is the perfect way to ease listeners into the album
Next is the song “Golden Hills”. The song opens with. The song opens with very delicate guitar strums and a recording of a man speaking about certain emotions and loyalty and complexities of politics. The song is about a character talking about how hot California is and likens it to her emotions or current situation (“Can I take the heat, ash falling in the wind”). The song is very fantastic and the metaphors are unlike any other. These lyrics will deep thought.
The song that follows is called “Brave Girl”. The song opens with these lovely saxophone sounds before Anoush starts to sing about a girl who is preaching the word and tells everyone about Jesus and her faith in places that might get her in danger or trouble, but she still shares her faith, against all odds(“everything is alright she’s a brave girl trying to save the world, talking about Jesus”). The vocal performance and the instrumentation give the song this jazz vibe which is very unique and interesting to listen to
“Take a trip” is the next song on the album. The opening of this song is these beautiful guitar strums. The song describes a persona who is trying to convince her lover to take a trip with her so they could have some alone time take a trip with me, I’ll show everything a man wants to see”). The vocal performance is very sultry and sexy and so is the instrumentation. The song is a perfect song to set the mood for you and your lover’s intimate time
“Lies” is the next song. The song has a slow piano intro with these heavenly mouth percussions. In the song, the character is confronting another character telling him that she knows his various secrets and secret dealings(“I know what you did, I see it in your eyes, I can see the lies”). This ballad is emotive due to its story and through its lyrics and vocal performance you can feel the disappointment and hurt in the character’s confrontation and you are captivated by the song
Next is a song called “Your Letter”. This is a song with a short and slow intro and the performance starts right away. The story paints the picture of a long-distance relationship and the vacuum it’s creating between two lovers because of poor communication (“Why don’t you write to me anymore “). As the song goes on we find out that the character who left did not say a proper goodbye. Although the character left behind us hurting she lets him know that she still loves him and is still holding out for him(“You didn’t say goodbye, are you okay”). The song is slow and passionate and the instrumentation is very emotive and will arouse deep emotions within you
Next is the song titled “June Gloom”. The intro has a very striking and unique guitar sound that will enthrall you right away. The song describes a relationship where one of them is very hesitant and gloomy(“Don’t you miss me?”). The song sounds like a soft rock one minute (THAT ELECTRIC GUITAR SOLO!!!)but also has a jazz vibe that you can’t ignore. This was a musical rollercoaster ride that was simply amazing
The song that follows is called “Red Roses”. The song starts slowly with very precise and intricate piano notes. The song describes a story where a character has decided to paint white roses red(“I painted the roses red, now everyone can see white instead”). This story is familiar because it is a scene from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, where the Red Queen instructed every white rose to be painted red. This song is a metaphor for human behavior, in that a person cannot hide his or her real behavior for long because eventually, it will start showing, and without realizing it that person would revert to his or her true nature. I really appreciated the nod to the Red Queen from the story Alice in Wonderland (“Off with your head”). I really enjoyed this song because of the double entendre in the song and the very heavenly vocal performance
Next is the song called “ Dark Woods”. The song opens with these very soft-toned piano notes. This song tells the story of a character who takes off into the woods and is followed by his or her partner. (“I follow your footprint but they disappear from sight”). He or she finds his or her partner in the dark woods and decides to keep him or her company(“in the dark woods”). As they stay together, they make a fire together and marvel at the beauty of nature, describing it as magic. The song has beautiful lyrics and it creates a thrilling soundscape
“I Will Behave” is the song that is up next. The song has an exciting intro In the song, the character is vowing to be on her best behavior (“I promise from now on, I’ll behave”). The character asks that her previous behavior be pardoned, so she may have a clean slate. The song is very delightful and it will thrill you sonically
Next is the song “Obsessed “A soft rock pop song. The character in the song goes into deep detail, describing her object of affection, stating that she loves everything about him, knows everything about him, has every detail about him tattooed in her mind, and comes to accept that she is obsessed with him(“I’m obsessed with you”). This song has a fascinating story that will captivate you thoroughly
The last song on the album is called “Glistening”. This beautiful song starts with sparkling sounds like crystals in the wind mixed with piano sounds which will catch your attention right away. The song is about a couple who are camping in the open and at night they see the beauty of everything around them (“winter snow glistening under the moonlight, glistening under the stars”). The crystal-like sound and lyrics are very unique and they give listeners a clear mental picture of where the characters are, giving listeners an all-immersive experience. This song gives listeners the perfect farewell to the album and a feeling that will linger, even after the album ends
After I finished listening to the album, I came to fully understand her style of music. She performs her lyrics in a very flawless, crisp, and poetic way. I was astounded at her incorporation of poems into music to create a different completely unique art and sound. Each song was profound and the ones that followed were even more profound. Anoush is a star glistening under the moonlight and the stars and she will dominate the music industry
