Greetings dearest readers and music lovers, let’s welcome Manava Lery back to our blog. Manava released an album called “Blowing Changes” which was an absolute hit, I danced to it so much that I wished I was a jazz artist or a dancer in a jazz bar. Manava Lery was born in the 14th arrondissement of Paris and was raised in a household that valued music. She was introduced to jazz and classical music, the two primary musical genres, at an early age. Her musical foundation and sensitivity were influenced by this early experience. Manava Lery presently splits her time between Tahiti, where she spent many years living and recording all of her tracks, the island of Saint Martin, where she currently stays, and mainland France. On 31st May, she released a video for her song “I wanna dance the Charleston”
The beat in the beginning will just get you up on your feet ready to dance to the music. When I first heard this song I immediately thought of dancing with the stars, in fact, most recently, the competitors had to dance the Charleston in the semi-finals of the competition. It was fun to watch these dancers in their element, some danced the traditional Charleston and others added a Modern twist to the dance, getting tens across the board of the judges now, I get the honor to see Manava herself dance the Charleston It is a complex dance because of how fast-paced the song is but very is right because you will find yourself twirling and swirling and swaying because the music will call out to you.
The video opens with Lery and three other dancers dancing alongside her and an older woman sitting and watching them. These dancers and very dance the Charleston and shimmy their bodies and their flapper dresses flapping as well. The video cuts into black and white with the ladies still dancing and it cuts back to color. The video then cuts to Lery alone and then the older lady, the other dancers also get their solo/freestyle moment, back to Lery alone in a cream dress twirling her leg so beautifully and then to the other ladies with Lery leading them, and playing the trumpet. Finally, the video cuts to old-time movie clips with the names of the dancers
The video has Manava as the singer and songwriter, Eremoana Ebb on keyboard and recording/mixing, Teiti Ebb on guitar, Fariki Mai on double bass, Frederick Ressoni on banjo, Christofer Ienfa on saxophone, Guillaume dor on trumpet, Jérôme Descamps on trombone and Adrien Ballay on drum. These geniuses worked with Lery to create this audio and visual masterpiece Now during the instrumental solo, you will be dancing or attempting to because this song is just amazing
Lery creates a distinctive musical style that incorporates inspirations from blues, bossa nova, swing, and Charleston while embracing jazz in its many manifestations as a singer-songwriter, jazz solo, and Charleston dancer, and performer. This video brought her vision to life and made the song even more fun to listen to or to dance to. Left has shown that she’s not just an artist, she’s a performer and a visual artist, that being said, I cannot wait to hear more songs from her because it simply never enough
