Greetings dearest gentle readers and music lovers. Let’s welcome back Gareth Dunlop to our blog. Dunlop released a video called “Go down swinging”, a tribute to his daughter for her to keep fighting and keep her head held high always. On 20th September Dunlop released another video for his song “Small Talk”. Let’s talk more about the song and video
The song opens with a very beautiful bass guitar and drum. The video starts with the camera zooming out on Dunlop and with that, you can’t wait for it to get started
Gareth considered himself as being socially awkward, or at the very least, frequently finding himself in embarrassing situations. He talks about the moment when you leave a conversation and ask yourself, “Why the hell did I bring that up?” something we always do.” Small Talk” is a personal story that delves deeply into his inability to occasionally return the favor in a conversation in a gentle manner. As the video continues we see different shots of Dunlop, wearing different clothes and holding different drinks. There’s even one shot of him wearing a robe with the towel wrapped around his head (like ladies usually do) with a glass of wine in hand and nodding his head attentively. The next shot of him sitting behind a table with the various drinks he was holding in his were displayed on the table signifying that he’s the same person just in different situations as shown in the different shots of him. The camera then zooms into the drinks on the table then cuts back to the different shots of him but this time he’s singing along and then fades to black
The song is country-infused and the guitar sounds were the perfect fit for Dunlop’s deep and beautiful voice the video did well to bring his lyrics to life the way they did
Well, what can I say Dunlop has done it again. Here is a great song and a visual masterpiece to go with it. Dunlop was great in every shot and really nailed the actions of the different characters. It was funny and interesting to watch. Dunlop is a superstar and I can’t wait to hear more music from him.
