With the release of his new album, “Southside Thrill Ride,” John, a multi-talented force in the music industry, hails from Houston, Texas, in the United States. As the main vocalist and producer, John displays his talent in addition to 4D3N’s extra production, mixing, and engineering, as well as IIRIIS’s featured vocals. This 11-song album was released on 20th February, let’s talk more about it
The first song on the album is “Dan Marino Gran Torino”. The song opens with a nice beat and background sounds. This song talks about a character who couldn’t get the attention of someone he was interested in because he didn’t have money. This character then gets a breakthrough and the lady tries to win him back to her side but unfortunately for her, he has moved on and is no longer interested (“Just know that love is faded”). This song is amazing and joho went crazy on this track. This song opens the album in a grand way
Up next is called “trust”. The song goes right to the performance. The character in this song tells his lover that he doesn’t trust her and without trust, they don’t have anything which is true. Trust is the foundation of any good relationship. John’s rap was amazing and his performance reminds me of J Cole in Forest Hill Drive. This song was amazing
“The Artist” is the next song. The song opens with a voice recording talking about being the artist, a great one. Verse after verse and punchline (“just like Mike in thriller”)after punchline, Joho sounded amazing and made the song incredibly memorable
“All u have to say” is the next song. The song opens with a very nice beat. So in this song, the character poses a question to a lady he’s fallen for(“I see you in my dreams”). He asks her that all she has to do is speak up and her wish is his command. This song is very interesting and entertaining
Next up is the song “Sweet Thang”. The song opens with a kind of retro sound. The persona in the song asks a girl to admit that she likes him because he feels the same way. This song was lighthearted and the story in the song was interesting to follow
The song that comes next is “Another Stupid Game”. The song begins with a fusion of different sounds. The persona in the song admits that his relationship is getting out of hand. He finally accepts that his relationship is just a game to his partner and decides to walk away. This song was emotive and very beautiful. Listeners will delight you
“Better off alone” is the next song on the record. This song opens with a crazy guitar strum sound. The song illustrates a relationship where the character’s lover decided she wanted to end it because she is better off alone (“looked me in the eye and said she’s better off alone”). Sometimes ending a relationship to rediscover yourself is inevitable especially when we try to do something a bunch of different times and end up with the same result. The instrumentation and its pace are very dramatic and exciting to listen to
The next song on the album is “Ya digggggg??This song seems to have a background snippet and you hear it from the beginning. The title of the song is the urban slang for Do you like it or Do you understand? The song was an unforgettable experience because the song was so good!
“Luv in my heart” is the next song on the record. This song is a character listing all the things he wants to focus on this year. The rap was flawless and listeners will be enthralled by every part of the song.
“Boy Meets World” is the next song on the album. The title of this song is the same title of a popular TV series following a young man who goes from middle school to high school. Like the song, the main character navigates through the world experiencing new things and figuring things out. This was a sentimental song that you will have on repeat because of how awesome it is
The last song on the album is called “Santa Fe”. The song opens with a soft beat that compliments Joho’s voice. This song likens his love for Santa Fe to a relationship and he leaves his heart in this place. The female vocalist sounded like an Angel and she really elevated this song more than it was. This song marks the grand ending of the album
This album was a big hit. I heard a little bit of J Cole in there and Kendrick as well. This album counts as one of the wins for black people in Black History Month. John distinguishes himself in today’s music scene with an enthralling fusion of genres, drawing inspiration from a wide range of musical inspirations such as Lou Reed, Stevie Wonder, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West. He did so well on this album that there is no doubt that he will dominate the Music Industry
