Greetings dearest music lovers and cherished readers lets welcome back Ellery Twinning to our blog. I have had some experience with Twinning, having reviewed and sampled his music (”Results”)and his music videos. On 19th August, Twinning released a video for his song “Dusty Springfield’s Record Collection”. Let’s talk about the video.
The song had an upbeat tone and it is not surprising that the video starts that way too
The song is about Twining as he witnesses a pop star sell her collection which was obviously very precious to her and how that single gesture might have brought back the interest in vinyl.
When the video starts a lady walks into a record store. She then chooses two records and takes them to a part of the shop where the record player is. When it gets to the part where Twinning says that he was there to witness everything, we are shown various still shots of the different areas in the shop. Then we see a blonde woman enter the record and she looks through the records a pick one, the video cuts back to the first lady in her home as she puts one of the records she bought into the record player, grabs a drink, and a book. Later it cuts to the blonde Lacy who has also arrived home, just like the first lady she also puts on a record and settles down to make a call. The final images in the video are different pictures of different record shops. The song and video also describe the importance of listening to music in other ways besides digital platforms. The song and video ease the listeners into a great musical and immersive visual journey.
This music video is very artistic. From the still shots to the black-and-white parts, you can tell that a lot of love went into making and sharing this music video. It highlights the fact that music is a language we understand no matter race because of a record shop shown with a black lives matter banner in it. It is an artistic video that enhances the instrumentation, lyrics, and vocal performance
I appreciate Twinning for making a video for this song. We learn something about him which is that he loves Vinyls and thinks they will never go out of style. This reintroduction and re-education about vinyl is very important in a time when everything is digitized. He doesn’t mock these other platforms he just wants to keep them alive, a sentiment that is very beautiful. Time and time again, Twinning has exceeded my expectations. I can’t wait to see what he releases next
