No Comments Review

Greetings dearest readers and music fans lets welcome English artist Dread Fury. On 20th September he released a 26-song album called “Devil Advocate or Heaven’s Prophet” Recordings for this double album were done in my house. I sing all the vocals and play most of the instruments. Above all, though, this is a double album that tells a story from beginning to end. It’s an adventure in self-discovery. Join me as we take this trip together.

“Masquerede of the darkened hearts” the song opens with these amazing mouth percussions. The song is about a character who is being invited to a very mysterious place. This character is hesitant but is being coaxed and seems like he’s taken the bait. I don’t know about you but dread fury has convinced me to come on down to the masquerade. Join me on this voyage as our captain takes us on the wildest ride to ever exist. The song jump-start you to prepare you for the rest of the album

“Devil’s Advocate” is the next song on the album. The song opens with this dramatic flair and harmonizing. This song is spooky and dark. The performance sounds like the host of a haunted house ride. This song is for the lovers of scary stuff. Dread Fury’s voice is very commanding and it fits the instrumentation. This song is perfect around this time in autumn when it is almost Halloween

“I get it done” is the song that follows next. The intro is very upbeat and lovely. The song mentions a character who is confident that he has everything covered and handled, he brags about his dependability in the song. Dread Fury gives a very captivating perfect and the instrumentation is very vibrant(electric guitar solo)

“Someone to Tell Me” is the next song on the record. The song has a very bright instrumentation. In the song, the character talks about how the people around him have partners and are flourishing. He on the other hand has no one. He laments about how he has no one to comfort him when he’s feeling blue or when he has had a bad day that he will be okay (”everything is gonna be okay”). The melodies in the song are just insanely good and there is an electric guitar solo that is just so beautiful

“She wants the ride” is up next. You are met with this exciting guitar sound. The song describes a persona who has caught the attention of a damsel, she makes her intentions very clear and through their conversations and little nuances here and there he has deduced that she really wants to be with her(”she wants the ride”). The song feels country but there is a strong rock vibe as well. There is a harmonica and electric solo mid-song. You rarely hear the combination of these two very different instruments but let me tell you, it sounded fantastic. Listeners will really get a kick out of this song

Next is the song “At this moment in Time”. With this song, the album pivots to a slower start than the others. The tempo does pick up but is still slow. The song is about a character who is feeling grateful for his partner(”I’m so grateful that we are more than friends”). The song is very genre-bending. It sounds like blues from the 80s and also has jazz elements due to the saxophone sounds that drift in and out of the song. The vocal performance was very soulful and captivating. This song is a breath of fresh air in the album

“Underneath your mask (interlude)” The song is a narration about a character who has gotten everything he desired and finding the right woman for himself. The story doesn’t end there. The happily ever after that this character desired did not materialize, instead, he lost himself. The song then begins when the character is exposed for hiding his pain underneath a mask he wears to convince himself and others that he is okay. The song has a very unique rhythm and this song will hold your attention throughout

“30 Pieces” is the song that follows. The song opens with this operatic and soothing instrumentation. The character in the song has had a wake-up call about his relationship(“I guess I didn’t read the signs”). Heartbroken, he asks her if her feelings for him were ever true. Dread Fury took us along on an incredibly emotive trip, with these stringed instruments that let us feel these emotions that the character is feeling, getting in tune with the music

Next is the song “So Much (blues of an Innocent Man”). The intro of the song is dynamic and fun. The message of this song is tear-jerking, as the title suggests it’s about a prisoner singing about his woes. The song was lovely despite the heavy topic discussed

“Blaze of Glory” is the next song on the record. This is a country-infused song that you’re going to love. In the song, the persona declares that he accepts that he will die someday but he will go out his way, in a grand style. I loved this song especially because it’s a phrase I’ve heard in many, many movies especially when the protagonist decides to go against his enemy though he knows that he’s outnumbered and outmatched. The guitar solo was such a treat. This song was such a treat to listen to and I know you will love it as well

“Across the edge (interlude)” is the next song on the album. The song was a brief narration that was very fascinating and ominous

Next is the song “Codeine Cocaine”. The song opens with a very fancy drum beat and you will love it. The song is about a character who likens his affection to being addicted to a drug. The vocal performance is very interesting and the electric guitar sounds will enthrall

This song “Heaven’s Prophet (interlude)” is the start of the other half of the album. The song opens with haunting piano sounds. There is another mystical narration that’s quite chilling. This song is fantastic and you will really enjoy it

Next is the “Sinner’s Banquet”. The opening has these synth sounds in it that are a real kicker. The song talks about a character who sells his soul and is being warned. The song was magnificent and it will take you on a musical trip unlike anything you’ve ever seen

“Exception to the rule” follows suit. The opening is these dreamy and bright instruments. The song is about a person who is treated differently than others. They have made him an exception to every rule there is. There is a solo that has synth sounds that are really really good

“Turn it ‘Round” is the title of the next song. This song had 80’s retro vibes and it’s very snazzy. The song talks about a character who has been given a chance to turn his life around for the better. The song is advisory and encourages us not to live in the past and in pain. The vocal performance is very exciting and so is the electric guitar in the song

Next is the song “On digitally (interlude)”. There is a poetic narration about a dove who is giving advice. When it got to our character the dove told the character not to change himself for anyone and to hold on to his dignity. I sure did learn something from this song and I hope you do too

Next is the song “Joy in within my soul”. The intro is a foot-tapping drum and guitar beat. The song is about a person who is feeling jolly and giddy and is sharing his joy with everyone (“I feel so happy”). The instrumentation is jolly and matches the vibe of the song from start to finish

Next is “ties and cliques”. The song opens with upbeat instrumentation. The story is about a character who is approached by a girl likely in a clique and she asks him how he isn’t so self-conscious like her or cares about his reputation like she did. This song encourages listeners to be themselves instead of being in cliques or friend groups where no one is able to be themselves. The vocals were crisp and the instrumentation was flawless

Next is the song “Could Be Me”. The song opens with dreamy guitar and choral sounds in the background. The song weaves a story about a character who is in love with a girl in the school. He plays the what-if game with this girl. He imagines them to be together and hopes that even one day when they somehow break up, he Hopes they still remain friends. In the end, the character decides to take a leap of faith and tell her how he feels. The storytelling was impeccable and easy to follow and the instrumentation was just brilliant

“Soon, we will all be able to go home again” is the next song. The song’s intro is very soft and tender. The character in the song is telling those in captivity that they will be able to go back home. This can be interpreted in many different ways. This captivity could be mental or physical but either way, he comforts them that they would go home soon. The vocals are beautiful because that final note was just so incredible and the violin sounds were a showstopper! it adds a touch of elegance and class to the song

“The last summary (interlude)” is the next song. The song starts with operatic and glacial piano sounds. In this song, our character has gotten everything he ever wanted and is encouraged to love himself and live on

“My redemption (I’m calling out to you)” is the next song. The opening is very preppy guitar sounds and mouth percussions. The character in the song is seeking redemption and penance for all his wrongdoing (“sorry for all the pain that I’ve caused”). The riffs and harmonizing in this song are just amazing

Next is “second life”. The song opens with piano sounds and echoes of a villain’s laughter before the instruments start. Dread Fury shows his vocal range with this song especially when he hits those high notes that beautiful falsetto and that exciting electric guitar sound that will mesmerize you and create a magical musical soundscape

The last song on the album is called “Live On”. The song opens with the sound of a huge church bell before it moves into a crystal-like sound before the vocal performance starts. This song is a song that talks about grief and loss. It is hard when you lose someone you love and it always helps when you remember the fond memories that both of you shared. It is extra hard when you can’t make a lot of memories with them because our dead live on through our memories. (“memories that will never be forgotten”). I applaud Dreaded Fury for reminding us that we can remember our dead through memories. What a befitting end of a perfect album

The album was an unforgettable journey. It had fun times, sad times, and times when it felt like he wrote the songs for us. I am not surprised because he is a multitalented artist who plays all the instruments, talk about talent! I implore you to listen to this album because it was made with love. Dread Fury has the goods and he will make it to the top
