Hello to my dearest readers and music fans everywhere. Today we highlight the work of UAE band Dozenz. Saleh Hameed (SOL FARAH) and Ahmed Jamali return with a ten-song album called “Be Someone”, a bold evolution of their signature sound that combines anthemionic rock with lux electronic textures, twenty-two years after they helped establish the alternative rock scene in the United Arab Emirates. The album was released on 31st March. Let’s talk more about this album
The first song is also called “be someone”. The intro of the song is very colorful and exciting. The beginning of the song talks about a character who is upset about being asked to do something with his life, (“they said gotta be someone”)but at the end of the song, this character is ready to take on everything and anything he wanted to do (“gonna take it on again, I’m ready”). The vocal performance is wild and exciting and don’t get me started on the instrumentation because it was so amazing( electric guitar solo)!!. What a way to open the album
The second song is called “Lie to Love You”. This song has a slower intro than the first song. The song illustrates a relationship where one party is tired of all the problems in the relationship. This song is really just a goodbye to toxic relationships. We applaud the duo for this inspiring message about ending toxic relationships and relationships with no trust. The song has everything you need in a good song, it is entertaining and it will captivate you
Next up is “daylight”. This song has this throbbing synth-rock intro that you will really fall in love with. In this song, the character has found out that his partner is his lifeline, a light in his dark life. He tells her how he feels and tells her that he won’t make it without her. Now, you might see this as co-dependency but it’s actually a declaration of love (“I won’t make it without you”). Later in the song, we get this retro 80s vibe
The fourth song on the album is “Chasing Tigers”. This song starts with very nice synth-pop sounds. The song talks about a character who feels like a fool in his relationship. He likens his love for this woman to “chasing tigers”. Now we know that a cheetah is the fastest predator but the tiger is also in the running. By using this phrase the character is talking about how he can never quite catch up to his woman and it makes him feel like a fool(“cause I’m a fool, chasing tigers”). The vocals on this song are insanely good and that electric guitar solo?, amazing, just amazing. this song breathes new life into the album
“Falls apart (pick yourself up)” is the next song. The song opens with these organ sounds that take me back to church. This song is highly inspirational and motivational. The song lets listeners know that in life, we will fall apart but what happens the most is that we pick ourselves up. This message is highly appreciated especially in these times. When it comes to the structure of the song, we get this ballad, although some drum beats are added on, it still has this ballad feel especially with that beautiful falsetto that is unforgettable and amazing
Up next is the song “Rules of the Heart”. The intro of this song is very entertaining and breathtaking. The song talks about the rules of the heart which is basically just how to date and protect our hearts. The song has beautiful instrumentation and listeners will fall in love with it
“Senseless” is the next song on the bill. The song opens with these bright electric guitar sounds. The character in the song is a person who is deeply in love. He tells his partner that she leaves him senseless(“your love is leaving me senseless”)and she is always on his mind. With several points of likening situations, he tells her how much she means to him. This song has such a cute message and it’s a song I recommend to listeners to play for their lovers. The vocal performance is outstanding and it will captivate listeners
“No talking (just love me)” is the next song on the record. This song has a synth-pop vibe right from the start. Ever felt like you need your lover desperately? Sometimes that need is not even sexual, you just want to be around this person every single second of every day, and this song portrays that need perfectly (“I just can’t seem to let you go”). The song is foot-tapping and will take up an amazing music journey
The next song is called “Say My Name”. This song features Ethan Cronin. The song starts with this dramatic and foreboding synth sound. The character in the song is angry after finding out someone was pretending. He goes as far as to call her a cheap knockoff. The song is also very foot tapping and listeners will be really happy with this song
The last song on the album is “Young Tomorrow”. The song opens with the vocal performance there and then. The song tells us to follow our hearts and live free and fearless no longer in fear of our future. This was the perfect message to say goodbye to the listener. A message to trust our guts.
The duo did so well with this album. From the quality of the songs, listeners can tell how much love and work went into it. Every song was perfect and all the instrumentation was crisp and flawless. Kudos to the duo for this beautiful piece of music. They are talented and are on their way to the top
