Nigerian singer-songwriter Ayra Starr’s debut studio album is titled 19 & Dangerous. It was made available on August 6, 2021, fewer than seven months after the singer’s self-titled debut EP, via Mavin Records and Platoon.[1] A Gen Z girl going from childhood into early adulthood with increased confidence, artistic enthusiasm, tenderness, and empathy was the subject of the concept album 19 & Dangerous.[2] Producers London, Andre Vibez, Louddaaa, and Don Jazzy, the latter two of whom had contributed to the production of Ayra Starr’s prior album, collaborated with her. Along with reuniting with her previous musical collaborators, she also worked with a number of fresh composers and musicians, such as Fousheé and CKay.

 

Neo-soul, jazz, and EDM are among the genres that are incorporated into the afropop, R&B, trap, and alté album 19 & Dangerous. Its lyrics centre on issues related to love, including unrequited love, the pain of a breakup, betrayal, and heartache, as well as more individualised themes like self-determination and self-esteem.

 

Both music critics and fans responded favourably to the album in general. Ayra Starr became the first female artist in the chart’s history to top the singles chart with her lead track, “Bloody Samaritan,” which peaked at number one on Nigeria’s TurnTable Top 50.The album received over 30 million streams across all platforms in the first two months of release.[4][5]
