Greetings dearest gentle readers and music fans, Let’s welcome English artist Claire Littley. On 15th November, Claire released a song called “Wishing on a Star”. Let’s talk more about it
When the song starts, you hear this soulful performance and you are instantly captivated. When you hear the words “wishing on a star” what comes to mind? For me, it reminds me of some Disney characters like Cinderella, who wished upon a star and summoned her fairy godmother, Geppetto who wished on a star, summoned the blue fairy who brought Pinocchio, the wooden puppet to life, Snow White who wished upon a star that her life will become better and the latest addition Asha who wished upon a star for her grandfather’s wish to return to him.
The universal themes of love, longing, and hope in this song also served as inspiration for her reinvention of the song. These feelings go across musical genres and eras. Beyond its musical quality, she believed that the song’s deeply personal meaning for both her and many listeners is what draws so many people to it. The phrase “wishing on a star” is a worldwide metaphor for hope, longing, and dreaming of something more just like those Disney princesses did
Claire has always wanted to cover “Wishing On A Star” for a long time. Although she adored the recording of “Rose Royce,” which was composed by Billie Rae Calvin, she wanted to experiment with making the vocals more “vulnerable” and the arrangement more laid-back and soulful. Through my vocal performance and musical arrangement, She aimed to create an atmosphere of intimacy by striking a balance between the original tune and her own expression, interpretations, and inflections.
This song clearly means a lot to Claire and she has let her love for the song encourage her to make a rendition of the beloved song that listeners can enjoy and love as much as they love the original. Claire is very talented and will go far in the music industry
