After the WGA strike abruptly ended its 48th season, Saturday Night Live revealed on Wednesday that its 49th season will begin next week. Every cast member from the conclusion of season 48 will return, along with one new face: comedian Chloe Troast, who is based in New York.
Troast is a veteran of the NYC comedy scene, despite the fact that she doesn’t yet have many cinematic credits. If her social media presence is any indication, she’ll be a hilarious addition to the show’s cast.
The Basics, a six-episode online comedy that Troast also co-wrote, was her most prominent on-screen performance, but she is no stranger to Saturday Night Live. She previously collaborated with Peacock employees Martin Herlihyin, John Higgins, and Ben Marshall on their upcoming film Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain, which will air on that network on November 17. She will also act with Kiernan Shipka and Jake Bongiovi in the comedy Sweethearts on Max.
The native of New Jersey studied “Practise of Play” at NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualised Design. According to her LinkedIn profile, we engage in the essential elements of play in almost every aspect of life, from playground games to the rule of law, from the First Folio to improv. The theatrical practise of play aids in the production of these products and infuses the rehearsal space with a fresh feeling of mission, spontaneity, surprise, cooperation, and discovery. Middle Eastern Islamic Studies was Troast’s minor field.
The entire cast of SNL, including Michael Che, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Punkie Johnson, Colin Jost, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson, and Bowen Yang, will be back for the show’s 49th season. Sarah Sherman and James Austin Johnson, who were featured players during the previous season, have both been elevated to repertory roles.
