Hello, one and all. You’re welcome to our blog. Today we share the talents of US artist Peter Xifaras. “DYSTOPIAN WORLD” is a classical music project that explores George Orwell’s fictional work “1984” and how it has become a reality in today’s dystopian world through surveillance technology, free speech suppression, information manipulation, censorship, redefining language, privacy erosion, propaganda, individuality, groupthink, and the value of truth. The 7-song EP was released on 26th July. Let’s explore it, shall we?
The first song on the EP is called “Tears of Humanity”. This song opens with these heavenly stringed instruments that make sense you feel as though you stepped right into heaven. The themes of the song include how war is in fact peace, freedom is slavery and ignorance is strength. This a profound song that teaches us that nothing is as it seems. This song brings to mind the saying “Ignorance is bliss”). The song captures this part of Oswell’s work perfectly and you get a taste of what the album is going to be like
Next is the song” Dehumanization”. The song’s orchestration is so beautiful. The sound oscillates back and forth till you get this unpredictable rhythm. The theme of the song is a little complex but also simple. It talks about how thought can corrupt language (how we speak) then language can also affect thought(a person who speaks a different dialect makes communication difficult and borderline impossible). The orchestra did not come to play in this song. Every sound was isolated so you could hear it clearly yet in sync with all the rest of the other instruments making something quite special
Next is the song called “Death Clock”. There is something like a drum beat which is then mixed with a violin song. As the song builds so does the tempo, slowing down moments in the song so could take it all in. The song talks about how the easiest way to tear someone down is to distort or destroy their own history hence leaving them in the wind, untethered and without a place to truly call home. The drama and intensity of the song’s subject matter are reinforced by the pace and the way each instrument is performed.
“Conscience of Humanity” is the tune that follows. The opening of this song is slow, so slow that you can fully enjoy each note being played. The theme of the song tells listeners how telling the truth in a place or time where lies are the order of the day of lies prevail, after people begin to see the error of their ways and the real truth, you are hailed as a revolutionary. The notes are dainty and spectacularly superb
Next is the song “Brave New World”. The song starts with a breathtaking violin intro before the cello and other stringed instruments set in. The song teaches us that whoever controls the past controls the future and who controls the present controls the past. This simply means that whatever happens, we have to go on so indeed we control what happens next which is the future, and controlling the present means that we are accountable for whatever happened to us in the past. The song is mysterious and dark and will captivate listeners
Next is “Dreams of a utopian world”. The song has an amazing intro, one to die for., The song tells listeners that they can teach people how to treat them or what happens. The song believes that we make our own fate and encourages us to stand up for ourselves. The rest of the song is raw beauty in its purest form and it will delight you
The last song on the EP is called” Dystopia”. The song’s intro is very lovely. There is a part of this song that is very familiar because you might have heard that sound play whenever there was suspense in the movie or a villain is introduced in the movieThe song teaches listeners the power they have when they hold two conflicting ideas in their head. The song ends the EP with so much grace and poise
This EP was very spectacular. I was not a fan of classical music but I am now. The songs were graceful, profound, and immensely beautiful. The songs were powerful and will tickle your wildest music fantasy. Xifaras has created an EP that makes you feel like you stepped into heaven he wrote and produced the songs and the songs were performed by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and Vladimir Martinka. The EP was just amazing and I can’t wait to see what Xifaras has in store for us
