British singer and songwriter Rita Sahatçiu Ora (Albanian: [ˈʾita sahatˈtŃiu ˈɔʾa]; born Rita Sahatçiu; 26 November 1990). When she appeared on DJ Fresh’s record “Hot Right Now,” which peaked at number one in the UK in February 2012, she gained notoriety. Ora, her August 2012 release debut studio album, peaked at number one in the UK. The UK number-one singles “R.I.P.” and “How We Do (Party)” were included on the album. With three singles peaking at number one on the UK Singles Chart in 2012, Ora was the artist with the most number one hits.

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

Ora was born on November 26, 1990, to Albanian parents in Pristina, SFR Yugoslavia (now known as Kosovo). Her father, Besnik Sahatçiu, is a pub owner who formerly studied economics, while her mother, Vera (née Bajraktari), works as a psychiatrist. Don is Ora’s younger brother, and Elena is her older sister. Originally named Rita Sahatçiu (a surname derived from the Turkish term saatçi, meaning “watchmaker”), her parents eventually added the more pronounceable surname Ora (ora means “time” in Albanian)

Her family fled Kosovo for political reasons as a result of the persecution of Albanians that started when Yugoslavia broke up.When Ora was a newborn, they moved to London, England in 1991.She was raised in Notting Hill, West London and went to the Sylvia Young Theatre institution, a performing arts institution.

CAREER

Ora started giving performances at open mic nights in different parts of London and even in her father’s pub.She qualified for the British Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 after trying out for Eurovision: Your Country Needs You on BBC One, however she eventually withdrew from the competition after a few episodes because she “did not feel ready” and felt “that challenge wasn’t for her.”

Not long after, Ora’s management contacted Roc Nation, an American record label, to let them know about her. Ora was one of Roc Nation’s initial signees, having inked a recording and publishing deal in December 2008.She appeared briefly in Jay Z’s “Young Forever” music video 

On May 6, 2012, “R.I.P.” (with Tinie Tempah), the first UK single from her debut album, was made available.The song, which was produced by Chase & Status, became her first solo UK number one when it debuted at the top of the UK Singles Chart.How We Do (Party)” was made available as a single on August 12 and peaked at number one in both the UK and Ireland. It was Ora’s third number one single of 2012 overall and her second in the UK as a solo artist.

Ora announced the title and release date of her second studio album, Phoenix, on September 18, 2018. The album will be out on November 23. She released “Let You Love Me,” the fourth single off the album, on September 21.Ora’s 13th top-ten hit in the UK was achieved when the song peaked at number four, shattering a 30-year record for the most top ten songs by a British female solo artist (which was previously shared by Shirley Bassey and Petula Clark).She revealed the album’s tour dates for Europe, Asia, and Oceania on October 29. The dates run from March 1 to May 29, 2019.

Ora’s father is a nominal Muslim and her mother is a Catholic.She doesn’t identify as religious, but rather as spiritual. Osman Bajraktari, her maternal grandpa, served as Albania’s consul in Russia when it was still a part of the Soviet Union.Reference Besim Sahatçiu, Ora’s paternal grandfather, directed plays and films.
