Born on February 11, 1981,  Kelendria Trene Rowland is a well-known American singer, actress, and television personality. As a member of Destiny’s Child, one of the all-time best-selling girl groups in history, she became well-known in the late 1990s. In 2002, Rowland made her solo studio album debut with Simply Deep, which peaked at number one on the UK Albums Chart and sold over 3 million copies globally, during the group’s three-year break.The UK top-five successes “Stole” and “Can’t Nobody” were among them, as was the Billboard Hot 100 number-one single “Dilemma” (co-written with Nelly). Rowland also dabbled with acting, landing lead parts in the films The Seat Filler (2005) and Freddy vs. Jason (2003).

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

On February 11, 1981, Kelendria Trene Rowland was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Her mother is Doris Rowland-Garrison, who lived from December 6, 1947, to December 2, 2014.as well as Christopher Lovett Orlando is the name of her elder brother.When Rowland was six years old, her mother abandoned her father, who was a violent drinker and had PTSD from his time in the Vietnam War. Rowland went with her.Rowland’s family moved to Houston when she was seven or eight years old. At some point, she moved in with Beyoncé, a fellow member of Destiny’s Child, and called Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles “Mama T.”

Rowland became a member of Girl’s Tyme, a girl trio consisting of Beyoncé, Tamar Davis, and LaTavia Roberson, in the early 1990s.Girl’s Tyme participated in the nationally televised talent competition Star Search, but the group Skeleton Crew prevailed.

Before settling on a definitive name, the group went through multiple name changes: the Dolls, Something Fresh, Cliché, and Destiny.Columbia Records signed the group under the name Destiny’s Child. They kept on serving as opening acts for well-known R&B acts of the era, including Immature, Dru Hill, and SWV.

CAREER

Killing Time,” the lead single from Destiny’s Child’s major label debut, was recorded for the Men in Black soundtrack in 1997. The group’s self-titled debut album was released the next year, along with their debut song “No, No, No,” later that year.The album won the trio three Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, decent sales, and established the quartet as a legitimate act in the music industry.

Nelly’s song “Dilemma” from 2002, which included Rowland, won the two of them a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.One of the year’s biggest hits, the song peaked at number one on several charts across the globe, including the US, where it became Rowland’s first number-one single as a solo artist and sold over 7,6 million copies worldwide.

Rowland reconnected with Beyoncé and Michelle Williams for Destiny’s Child’s final studio album, Destiny Fulfilled, which was released on November 15, 2004, following a three-year break during which time she focused on her solo endeavours. The album peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 and produced two top-five hits: “Soldier,” featuring T.I. and Lil Wayne, and “Lose My Breath.”

In order to promote her second solo album, Ms. Kelly, Kelly Rowland set out on the Ms. Kelly Tour in June 2007. The tour stopped in Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia

Rowland’s third studio album, Here I Am, was released in the United States on July 26, 2011, after being originally scheduled for release in 2010. In its first week of release, the album sold 77,000 copies and topped the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.Here I Am produced the UK top 10 single “Down for Whatever” and the successful lead single “Commander,” which peaked in other European charts’ top ten. It also featured another hit song, “Motivation,” featuring Lil Wayne, which was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and topped the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for seven weeks in a row.

Destiny’s Child released the freshly recorded song “Nuclear” together with a compilation of romance-themed tracks from their past albums under the title Love tracks in January 2013.Beyoncé performed “Bootylicious,” “Independent Women,” and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” on February 3, 2013, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Rowland and Michelle Williams joined her on stage for these songs.

Rowland appeared in Beyoncé’s Disney+ movie Black Is King, which was released on July 31, 2020, all over the world.. In October 2020, she starred in the film Bad Hair, which debuted on Hulu.Rowland recorded three tracks for the soundtrack of the film.She also released an official lyric video for “Crazy,” her second single of the year, on KTR Records in the same month.

Rowland revealed her engagement to Tim Weatherspoon on The Queen Latifah Show in December 2013.On May 9, 2014, they were married in Costa Rica.Together, they are parents to two sons, born in 2014 and 2021.
