Regarding his eldest child with wife Beyoncé, Jay-Z revealed in an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings that her name “was supposed to be Brooklyn,” paying honour to his hometown. However, he added, “We was calling her Blueberry throughout her pregnancy.” As in, ‘Observe the tiny blueberry.’ It was almost like a nickname, you know. It came naturally. We only removed the fruit and gave her the name Blue.

Blue Ivy gained notoriety for participating in almost all of Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour shows. Jay-Z claimed that, in spite of some initial opposition, Blue has already come to appreciate her father and even goes to him for style advice: Jay-Z said, “She used to be frontin’ on me a little bit,” to King’s question about Blue’s opinion of him being cool. However, I catch her now. You know, I catch her in the corner. She asks me now whether this is cool and whether her trainers are nice. “She wants your advice?” King then enquired, to which Jay-Z replied, “Yeah, yeah, yeah.”

In addition to Blue, Jay-Z and Beyoncé are parents to twins Rumi and Sir.
