Tems, a musician of Nigerian descent, comes back after a two-year absence! She makes a comeback with a self-directed music video for her most recent single, “Me & U,” her first solo release since her If Orange Was A Place EP from 2021. Tems is shown in the opening scene of the video for “Me & U” standing in the middle of the ocean while dressed entirely in white, with the sun reflecting off her skin. She sings about religion and spiritual connection, and her distinctive voice shines brightly throughout.
Tems stated the song’s production by Ghanaian native Guilty Beatz is firmly based in her theology in a statement to Vibe. “Me & U” is about finding the true myself, developing a sincere relationship with the Creator, and developing a realistic self-perception, she stated.

The Grammy winner noted that it’s typical for people to connect with a higher power while they’re working on a project. No matter how it sounds, where it comes from, or whether it is acknowledged or not, she believes that music is profoundly spiritual. I simply want to be as honest as I can in my songs because I believe that music always has vitality.
