Greetings dearest readers and music lovers, Let’s welcome Eoin Shannon to our blog. The gifted musician Eoin Shannon, who is from Cork, Ireland, recently released his enthralling debut album, “Hello Forever,” on January 17. In order to realize his vision, Shannon worked with a group of outstanding musicians to create 12 tunes that highlight his musical prowess. Let’s talk more about this album
The title track is called “id have grabbed you a chair”. The song opens with an exciting beat and guitar sounds. The song can be looked at through two lenses. The first is metaphorical and then literal. So metaphorically, the character likens grabbing this person a chair to that of a relationship with a person. He did not expect that this person actually wanted to be with him. Literally, the song could also just mean that this character wasn’t expecting visitors and didn’t know they were going to stay for a while. Musically, we get a powerful vocal performance and groundbreaking instrumentation. This song was the best option to kick off the record
Next up is “Come down to the river”. This song begins with this country-infused instrumentation. This song talks about a person who’s having a hard time. The person is encouraged to come to the river and be washed clean. The song has this operatic instrumentation and classes up the song.
“Hello Forever” is the next song on the album. The song is introduced by very bright and beautiful instrumentation. The song illustrates a beautiful friendship where they can count on each other (” Hope you can count on me like I count on you”). The song reminds listeners about the beauty of friendship. The song had beautiful instrumentation and the vocals were stunning
“Everybody got crazy in them” is the title of the next song. The song opens with an electric guitar and drum beat. The song talks about how everyone has a problem they are facing because no one is perfect. The female vocals were beautiful and the electric guitar solo was amazing to listen to
“Dear daddy what would you do” is the next song. The intro is lively and exciting. The song talks about a character who is in a bind and asks himself what his dad would have done in his shoes. Musically, this song was wonderful, it was crisp and flawless and listeners will fall in love with it
Up next is “Dream of You Tonight”. This song opens with glacial piano sounds. The song talks about a persona who has fallen in love but is very cautious about the future of that relationship(”I wonder is there any hope, is there any future”). This ballad was a pivot in the album that is greatly appreciated
Next up is “sitting by the fire”. The song opens with mouth percussion, guitar, and drum sounds. The song illustrates a toxic relationship and a relationship where the character was dumped and abandoned (“She put petrol in my diesel car”). Though the song’s message is somber, the song still captivates you through the vocal performance and lyrical prowess.
We have “Night is Dark” as the next song. The song starts with soft guitar sounds. The song tells the story of a character who is talking to the mirror, a phrase of self-criticism. We should be able to stand our reflection because if we can’t, it means we are doing something very wrong. The guitar work on this song is seamless and stunning
Next on the record is “gambling again”. The song opens with very nice stringed instruments and piano sounds. The character in the song is addicted to gambling and hopes he gets lucky. The song is upbeat and foot-tapping. This song was incredible and will delight listeners
“I need my pain” is the next song, the song starts with flute sounds which are ethereal and gorgeous. In the song, the character tells someone not to try to help him because his pain is part of him. It is what drives him to better and not to do the things that caused him to feel pain and it makes him feel alive(“Don’t try to fix me”). The flute solo was so elegant and created this soundscape of moving music
“Dark November” is the song that follows. This song opens with very beautiful guitar sounds. This song is very soft and tender while its story is the complete opposite. It talks about the dark period after a breakup when you’re in your feelings. The song has a guitar solo that will knock your socks off
The last song on the album is “Dream of You- jazzy version”. The song is the jazz version of the same song “Dream of You Tonight”. It gives this song a refreshing new style and hear a different version of the song. This beautiful song ends the album
Notably, the talented Larry Magee composed most of the album’s music and served as producer for ten of the tunes. Other significant contributors include the amazing Irish musician Chanele, who provided the voiceover for the captivating song “Night is Dark,” and Andrei Sorokin, who produced the eerie sounds of “Dark November.” Ten tracks feature Shannon’s original compositions, with Kesha Parish, the lead female vocalist, giving exceptional performances. Her harmonies elevate each song, making “Hello Forever” a standout. Shannon worked well with these musicians and made a truly magnificent album. He is a very talented artist and I can’t wait to hear more music from him
